The TTLO has the following specific functions:
⦁ Advise and make recommendations to the Director General of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies on topics related to the application of and/or proposals to modify the University’s Regulations on Intellectual and Industrial Property and Technology Transfer, as well as its policies.
⦁ Carry out specific activities or tasks assigned according to the University’s Regulations on Intellectual and Industrial Property and Technology Transfer.
⦁ Report to and request approval of the General Directorate of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies (DGIIP), on all matters related to the assignment, sale or transfer, in any way, of the University’s intellectual and industrial property rights.
⦁ Report to and request the DGIIP’s pronouncement on appeals, complaints or claims filed in cases where the ownership of intellectual or industrial property rights is disputed or any other dispute or conflict that arises in the application of the rules established by the University’s Regulations on Intellectual and Industrial Property and Technology Transfer.
⦁ Establish alliances with national and foreign technology transfer offices, agencies and/or intermediaries with recognized experience in the area, to obtain advisory, skills exchange or training and management support.
⦁ Foster the protection, transfer and commercialization of the results of research and development projects.
⦁ Support the negotiation process for R&D and technology transfer contracts with companies.
⦁ Generate core capacities to support scientific and technological research, entrepreneurship, intellectual property and technology transfer.
⦁ Perform outreach for the University with different public and/or private organizations, both in Chile and abroad, that facilitate or generate investors’ networks to collaborate with the Innovation, Research and Development, and Technology Transfer.
⦁ Coordinate activities with the University’s different units, R&D Project Directors, staff and students for the protection, transfer and commercialization of the results of research and development projects.
⦁ Organize and coordinate training activities for the University’s staff in the scope of the TTLO’s functions .
⦁ Evaluate project proposals for the protection, transfer and commercialization of technologies.
⦁ Foster the projection of research applied to technological solutions and the generation of new technological startups and spinoffs by both researchers and external entrepreneurs.
⦁ Perform all other functions assigned to it by the Director General of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies.
